Then
Eleven years ago, two young university students found themselves living in Canberra, Australia. Despite studying within miles of each other and having a mutual mate, the Aussie lad and the American lass (studying abroad at the time) were not to meet. (Thank goodness - this might have led to very different futures for everyone involved!)
Six years passed. And on an otherwise unsuspecting 4th of July evening, said mutual mate coordinated the gathering of a few ex-Canberrans, and fate took over… the stars aligned, tectonic plates moved 2 Pacific continents closer (barf), and Julian and Kristine were introduced.
Who’s to know what the hook really was… her operatic version of the ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ shared with the entire suburb of Kirribilli? His stimulating conversation about decomposed granite at a Buddhist meditation centre? The appeal of a margarita date? Whatever the clincher, one thing was certain - they had met.
Three and a half years, 4 apartments, 3 flatmates, plenty of dates, and a few holiday trips later, it became apparent this was no fling. Over Christmas 2005, Julian mustered his courage and picked up the phone to ring Don. A question was posed. A question was repeated. Approval was granted. Now for the easy part…
Unbeknownst to Kristine, an unusually romantic scheme was organized. Plans were made and executed… the perfect beach spot found, champagne sourced, frangipanis procured, and a ring presented. A second question was asked. Another ‘approval’ was granted. And our male lead was two for two!
Now
Having been engaged for over a year, we’re happy to say we are finally tying the knot and really looking forward to celebrating with you!
